Next month will mark 9 years since I started this entrepreneurial journey. Oh the stories I can tell!! Nine years later...I think I finally nailed who I am, what I do and who I really do it for...and why.
When stepping into the entrepreneurial space be prepared for the long game or don’t bother.
There are only a few of the characteristics required to walk this journey.
For me it was a steep learning curve. I was a bonafide corporate girl. No marketing. No sales. Just me showing up, doing my job and going home - even though I was a workaholic.
While working a full-time job I accidentally stepped into entrepreneurship and got bit by it.
I started an online magazine and had no idea of what it would become. My publishing mentor was Jamar Suber. He didn’t know me. I found him online. Sent him an email and the result? He taught me everything he knew about publishing a magazine. That was 13 years ago.
People knew the magazine more than they knew me...lol
When I was navigating the business of passion, I was learning from incredible people like Suzanne Evans, Jeff Ruby and Suzanne Whitfield of Red Rock Leadership and JR Byrd, the digital GOAT, Founder of The Byrdology Group!
Red Rock Leadership helped me to confront and address my fear of selling.
Suzanne Evans taught me business systems.
JR Byrd taught me how to leverage social media and I am still learning from him to this day!
I had no idea where this journey would lead me, but 9 years, tears, trials and triumphs later...I’m still here!
The message...don’t quit. Stay the course. On those dark days, remember the sunny ones.
Stay focused. Become disciplined. Stay in faith...no matter what. Be understanding. Show compassion.
Celebrate the small stuff. Don't overlook the big stuff. Make some amazing friends along the way.
With love, Cheryl 💋
